Gary has been a member of Hanging Heaton Golf Club since 1993 when he fell in love with the game of golf. During his 31 years at the club he has seen many people come and go and has many positive memories at the club where he has been actively involved and has watched the club go from strength to strength.

Gary’s roles and responsibilities over the years have included being Rabbit’s Captain in both 2001 and 2004, Rabbit’s President on 3 occasions and Club Captain in 2011. It’s clear to see that Gary loves Hanging Heaton Golf Club and all it stands for.

Gary is a mid-range golfer and says what he lacks in ability on the golf course is more than made up with his passion for making a positive difference at the Golf Club. His priorities whilst in his role were made clear at the 2024 AGM those being:

To continue on the trajectory of course development and improvements, previously actively promoted by our immediate Past President Johnny.

 To seek to increase membership of the Club, particularly in underrepresented groups, in particular Juniors, Female Golfers and the 16-24 Year old categories

Increase our Social activity and open up the Social Environment for all to engage with HHGC and see it go from strength to strength

Gary feels proud and honoured to be nominated for this role and will give everything he can, along with the very hard working Committee and a membership that is second to none, to continue to develop on all the hard work that has gone before him.

One presentation evening a member of the Halifax, Huddersfield & District Golf Union commented “I don’t know what you have here, but it’s something very special, you just feel it” long may this continue as we welcome everybody in to this wonderful Club, feel free to come and join us.
